Meet Trunk Studios
Founded by Rima Alijew, Trunk Studios is built on a clear vision: no fluff, no exclusivity, just movement that meets people where they are. With studios across Sydney and a new location in Switzerland, Trunk blends yoga, Pilates, and barre in an environment that’s welcoming, unpretentious, and deeply personal.
“Our classes are intentionally small. That’s how people improve — through real relationships and personalized adjustments that make a big impact,” says Rima. “We’re not about fitting into a mold. Everyone fits in here.”
The challenge
Like many studios, Trunk noticed some shifts over the past two years as economic conditions changed. Clients didn’t disappear, but they became a little more careful with spending.
To fill those smaller gaps, Trunk experimented with ClassPass, but the fit wasn’t quite right. With studio locations near the airport, the platform drew in short‑term travelers who often booked free trials and didn’t return. Pricing felt unclear, the cuts were significant, and the setup didn’t match Trunk’s focus on small, personalized classes.
“Because they didn’t have that ongoing relationship with us, there just wasn’t the same connection,” Rima explains. “And that connection is what makes our classes special.”
The solution
Rather than chase one-off bookings through third-party platforms, Rima wanted a way to re-engage her own community — people already familiar with the studio who were more likely to return and grow with it.
Activating Spotfiller was simple. And for a busy studio owner like Rima, that mattered. But, while the setup was straightforward, Rima emphasizes the importance of customizing it to your studio’s patterns.
“Every business is different,” says Rima. “What worked best for us was tailoring the settings to accommodate our needs. Having that level of control is what makes it so valuable.”
Once Spotfiller was up and running, Rima created targeted campaigns tailored to the rhythms of her schedule. She offered slightly lower prices for off-peak classes like early mornings in winter, and adjusted her settings to reflect client behavior patterns she already knew well.
The impact
In just 38 days, Trunk filled 34 additional class spots and generated $479 in incremental revenue with no extra work required.
“It started working for us right away,” says Rima. “That’s revenue we wouldn’t have captured otherwise.”
The tool has also helped re-engage clients who might have previously skipped a class. In quieter seasons, that kind of gentle nudge can go a long way.
“Spotfiller runs quietly in the background and gives us a simple, effective way to boost bookings and revenue when we need it.”
