Meet Young & Bloom Skin
Young & Bloom Skin is a boutique day spa in the heart of Saratoga Springs, New York. Co-owned by husband-and-wife duo Eric and Erica Strader, the spa offers results-driven skin care, massage therapy, and bodywork treatments designed to help every client feel their best.
Erica, a Licensed Esthetician, specializes in advanced skin treatments that deliver visible, lasting results and incorporates science-backed, clinically formulated skincare. Paired with Eric’s tech background, the two have built Young & Bloom into a welcoming, modern space where results meet relaxation.
The challenge
When Erica and Eric took over the spa, which was operating under a different name at the time, they inherited more than just a loyal client base. The existing brand didn’t reflect their long-term vision, which centered on advanced, results-focused treatments and the integration of new, industry leading skincare lines. They set out to reintroduce the business to the local market under a new name, Young & Bloom.
Eric knew that the success of that rebrand would hinge on effective marketing and a strong customer experience. But the spa had been using Mindbody for more than a decade, and Eric found the platform restrictive.
“It felt like a Frankenstein product,” Eric explains. “So many elements stitched together in ways that didn’t make sense.”
Essential functions were spread across four to five different user interfaces — for example, the marketing tools required a separate login from the appointments platform. And the frustration wasn’t limited to the back end. Front desk staff found the platform clunky and unintuitive, leading to operational inefficiencies and daily friction. From booking glitches to slow load times, the software was getting in the way of delivering the exceptional customer experience Erica and Eric envisioned.
On top of that, Mindbody’s limitations required using a separate software, MailChimp, for email marketing. While it technically integrated with Mindbody, the experience was disjointed. There was no single place to see all client communication and no easy way to segment or target customers without exporting and importing lists.
The solution
Switching to Momence gave Young & Bloom the all-in-one platform they needed to power their rebrand and streamline operations. Instead of juggling multiple logins and disjointed tools, every part of the client journey now lives in one platform — from booking and payments to email, SMS, web chat, and gift card sales.
“I loved that Momence was a true CRM where we could see every message, marketing email, and call in one place,” says Eric. “Now I don’t need to jump back and forth between tools, and it’s lightning fast so I’m not sitting around waiting for pages to load.”
Email marketing also became both easier and more effective. Momence’s built-in editor offered professional, on-brand templates right inside the platform.
“The email templates look just as fresh as anything we could build in MailChimp,” Eric adds. “But now it’s all connected, so we can send detailed, segmented emails without the hassle of exporting and importing lists.”
SMS marketing opened new possibilities, too. The team can now send targeted texts, like a re-engagement campaign to clients who haven’t visited in a few months or a review request that’s sent out four hours after a client’s first visit. Birthday messages, reminder texts when the spa is closed, and practitioner-specific follow-ups now happen automatically, keeping clients engaged without adding to staff workload.
Even managing gift card sales became easier. Instead of the clunky, multi-step process in Mindbody, Momence makes it as simple as adding a digital gift card at checkout. Now, redemption is quick and easy for the front desk and only takes a few seconds for the customer.
The impact
With Momence, Young & Bloom didn’t just navigate a rebrand — they emerged stronger. During their first holiday season on the platform, a single Black Friday campaign executed in Momence brought in $30,000 in gift card sales. They also drove an additional $43,000 in revenue using Momence’s Leads solution, turning warm prospects into paying clients. Their email marketing now averages a 50% open rate thanks to precise audience targeting, while SMS has taken client engagement to a new level.
“We sent a targeted re-engagement text to clients we hadn’t seen in a while, and within a few days we already had two new bookings from it,” says Eric.
Most importantly, Momence gave Young & Bloom the insights needed to make informed decisions and continue to grow.
